Many people come to counselling believing that the therapist is some sort of 'enlightened being', sitting on the top of a mountain. They have "got it all together" and "figured it all out".
- That’s not the way it is.
The truth is, therapists are just like everyone else - climbing their own mountains, making mistakes, and learning from them. We all have tough days and face challenges we don't know how to manage right away. That’s very normal.
It's more like - you’re climbing your mountain over there, and I’m climbing my mountain over here. From where I stand, I might see things on your path that you can't yet - a steep drop ahead, a better route, or a more effective way to use your tools.
We’re all climbing our mountains each and every day. But here’s the thing: you can get better and better at climbing, and better and better at learning to appreciate the journey.
And that’s what the work we do here is all about.
What is counselling?
Counselling is a safe space to explore your thoughts, emotions, and situations without any judgment (no right or wrong).
We'll work together at your pace to process feelings, identify next steps, or develop a plan – all on your terms. Whether you're seeking clarity, support, or finding solutions, I'm here to listen and help you navigate life's challenges.
Acceptance and Commitment therapy.
This is an active form of therapy, it’s not just talking about problems and feelings. It’s learning how to untangle (unhook) ourselves from difficult thoughts/feelings, reducing their power/volume, so they don’t get in our way.
Clarifying our values (what matters to us deep in our hearts), and taking action towards solving our problems, facing the challenges and doing things that make life better.
